2014 Resolution Renewal!

We all start out on January 1st with the best of intentions.  We resolve to make significant changes to live healthier and happier.  Unfortunately, the long winter months can take a toll on us and by the time we’ve gotten through February, these resolutions have started to fade.  We’ve lost our mojo.

Well, it’s already March – the perfect time to revisit and renew those 2014 New Year’s Resolutions.  Close out the first quarter of 2014 strong!  Let’s be healthy and happy to welcome Spring – which is just around the corner.  For some fun New Years Resolution quotes and image to motivate you, check out or our 2014 Resolution Renewal board on Pinterest.

Here are some of the most common New Years Resolutions we hear in our stores.  Was one of these on your Resolution List?  Read on for some tips on how you can renew (or revive) your 2014 Resolution and continue on your path to a New You!

Get Fit

  • Was getting in shape on your resolution list?  Here’s a great article with tips on sticking with your 2014 Get Fit resolution.  It’s written by a conditioning coach of a professional sports team in Boston.  Staying the course: Revisiting New Year’s resolutions.
  • Would you like advice from a personal trainer, but don’t have one?  Having a personal trainer can be especially important to learn correct technique and prevent injury.  But finding one that fits with your personality and fitness goals and schedule and budget can be really tough,  In this digital age, there are online options that can help if you don’t mind the lack of personal interaction.  One example is Dreambody (based here in Atlanta).  Here’s what they say about their online training:

“The difference between DreamBody and other companies is that we are your training wheels! We’re not meant to be with you for the rest of your life. We want to educate you on how to properly exercise and give your body the proper nutrition so you can successful make a LIFE STYLE CHANGE. These aren’t “diets” these are HABITS.”

Get more rest

I have 3 kids.  I KNOW what it’s like to function on very little sleep.  But I consider myself fortunate that when the kids allow it, I’m able to get a good solid stretch of restorative sleep.   People that suffer from sleep disorders – short or long term – may need some help to get the rest their bodies need.  Here are a few concerns to be aware of with over-the-counter drugstore sleep aids.

  • Most contain antihistamines. Tolerance to the sedative effects can develop quickly, which means the longer you take them, the less likely they are to work.
  • Some can leave you with a “hangover” feeling  (groggy and sick) the next day.
  • Medication interactions are possible.  Always talk to your doctor and/or pharmacist before taking any kind of sleep aid.

If you need some help getting restorative sleep, see New Year, New You. Are you getting enough sleep? for more information on some natural options.
